No one wants polar bears, panda's or whales to die out. Many people consider biodiversity to be important. But does the same apply for habits and traditions? Linguistic variety is declining and research shows that when an indigenous language goes extinct, often the culture follows. From a political or economical perspective, you could argue that it is useful to have one shared language and culture. How does this relate to the plea for diversity? Should we protect as much cultural and biodiversity as possible and how do we do that?
