Riccio studeerde en promoveerde aan de Katholieke Universiteit van Rome en werkte vervolgens als postdoc aan het departement van neurowetenschap van de John Hopkins Universiteit in Baltimore, VS. In 2005 maakte ze de overstap naar het laboratorium waar ze nu werkt. In 2001 kreeg zij de Young Investigator Barry Woods Award for Excellence in Science uitgereikt van de John Hopkins Universiteit.

Dr. Antonella Riccio is group leader of the MRC Laboratory for Moleculary and Cell Biology of University College London (UCL). She studied at the Catholic University of Rome, where she also gained her PhD. After her studies, she worked as a postdoc researcher at the John Hopkins University at Baltimore, USA. In 2005 she came to the UK to start her work as group leader of the MRC Laboratory. In 2001 she received the Young Investigator Barry Woods Award for Excellence in Science from the John Hopkins University.
