Dr. Alexandra Hiscox
Entomologist2 opnames
Her current research focusses on how to combat malaria by using combinations of spatial repellents and attractant-baited mosquito traps. This push and pull technique aims at offering personal protection to people in malaria endemic regions, as well as reducing the populations of mosquitoes that can transmit malaria.
Hiscox studied Biological sciences at the University of Oxford, after which she moved to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine for her MSc and her PhD. During her PhD she measured the effects of environmental change, increased urbanisation, and improved housing and sanitation on mosquito vectors of malaria, and other diseases spread by mosquitoes.
