Naast de bovengenoemde werkzaamheden heeft Garvey verschillende publicaties op zijn naam staan. Zijn meest recente boek The Story of Philosophy: A History of Western Thoughtgeschreven met Jeremy Stangroom kwam uit in 2012. Garvey is ook redacteur van The Philosophers' Magazine, een kwartaalblad dat toegankelijke en leesbare filosofie biedt. James Garvey has a PhD in philosophy from University College London, and he works for the Royal Institute of Philosophy, an educational charity supporting philosophy in all its forms, inside and outside the academy. Alongside these activities, Garvey has publicatished several times. His most recent book The Story of Philosophy: A History of Western Thought was published in 2012 and describes the history of philosophy. Garvey is also the editor of The Philosophers' Magazine, a quarterly which publishes readable, accessible philosophy. Along with a colleague, he edits Think Now, a series of books on social and political philosophy, which aims to lend philosophical clarity to debates in the wider world. He is author of The Ethics of Climate Change (Continuum).
